Want to be our next success story?

Built between 1907 and 1909, the Ring Dam regulates water flow through the Chaudière Falls complex located in downtown Ottawa.

Hydro Ottawa completed in 2017 a major expansion and the new five-s‍‍‍torey powerhouse is built entirely below ground. Its four turbines generate enough clean electricity to power 20,000 homes. Now open to the public for the first time in 100 years, Hydro Ottawa worked closely with Banfield and Iversoft to refine a vision for an experiential mobile tour of the Falls location.

Background.

As Chaudière Falls became a tourist destination, Hydro Ottawa realized that people visiting the location were looking for more information about the Falls. Content was available on the website, but a mobile experience was required to optimize a visitors experience. Iversoft and Banfield worked closely together to create a mobile application that remains highly informative and easy to use.

The core app allows visitors to trigger additional content at various points throughout Chaudière Falls with AR integrated content prompts. When a visitor aims their app at a particular poster or image, more content will become available to them.

The final product was launched in May 2018 and saw immediate use shortly after launch. The app is expected to be used by thousands of tourists and local users visiting the Chaudière Falls location daily.
